Today is Aggie Ring Day at Texas A&M University. As I sit and reflect on my time at Texas A&M as a student and now, as an employee, my perspective has drastically changed.
When I received my Aggie Ring 3 years ago (I can’t believe it’s been that long!) I remember thinking after I slipped on that little piece of gold how I had considered NOT getting it! (I know, I’m a 2% -er..) I was concerned about the cost and how it would look on my small hand.. and thought, “Do I really NEED this?”.
I remember discussing it with my mom and her saying, “You are only going to do this once. GET THE RING!”. And so I did.
I never believed it would make a big difference in my career or social interactions, but boy was I WRONG! A simple flash of that little piece of gold and people know where you come from and what you stand for. Tradition. Integrity. Respect. Honesty. Leadership. Loyalty.
Aside from walking the stage at graduation, getting my Aggie Ring was the best day of my undergraduate career. I want to wish a heartfelt congratulations to all of the Aggies who are receiving their rings today! You have worked hard, and you have earned it! Welcome to the Aggie family!
